Checked Out follows the misadventures of Tim, who works at a public library (in a public service capacity), and his friend Tim, who works at (the same) public library (in a public health risk capacity). Together they help protect the world from bad literature and twerps with annoying cell phone rings.
The best place to start reading Checked Out is probably the second strip. Beginning with the first strip is not recommended as it is not really funny. When I started the comic I had the clever idea that putting as little effort into it as possible would help me make the weekly deadline. Well, it does, but at what cost?
Checked Out is currently on extended hiatus while I work on other projects.

 Tim (a library clerk) |
Tim the Clerk is the mainest of the main characters. He first appeared, in primitive form, in the very first strip of the series. Any similarities between Tim the Library Clerk and Tim the Comic Strip Author are purely coincidental (though they may also be on purpose). Tim is a rabid fan of Doctor Who. He collects stuffed penguins. He is not a lot of fun at parties. |

Tim the shelver first appeared in the fourth strip. I thought it would be really funny to have two main characters with the same name. In many ways, Tim is the antithesis of Tim, though they do have a few things in common. Despite being unwashed, unshaved and unpleasant, Tim is something of a chick magnet. He is living in a storage room at the library where he and Tim work. He lacks any noticable ambition. He is a lot of fun at parties. He is very fond of karaoke. |

Sarah first appears in the Chinese New Year strip. She is, of course, girlfriend to the slobbier, less pleasant Tim. She is utterly devoted to him, despite her awareness of his many limitations and personality problems. I don't know why; she doesn't know why; Tim doesn't know why. She serves as his anchor to the real world. |

The Checked Out characters page was designed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 using Mozilla 1.2.1 and Notepad 5.0 in Windows 2000. It should also look OK at 800 x 600. It has been tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, Opera 7.01 and Netscape 4.8. I am currently using Mozilla 1.6 during updates.
